Cambourne nominated for major award

Cambourne Village College has been nominated for a major national teaching award.

They are among the six nominees for The School of the Year award at the annual Pearson Teaching Awards and will find out on June 22nd whether they are one of the silver award winners, who then may go on to win one of 12 Gold Plato awards, the ‘Oscars’ of teaching, later in the year.

Cambourne’s category is called ‘Making a Difference’ and is also supported by Future First, and the other finalists in the section include academies and community schools and colleges in Lincolnshire, Essex, Leicester and Bradford.

Silver winners will attend a celebratory event at the House of Commons on July 4 and in October the final UK Ceremony will take place in London where it is filmed and broadcast by the BBC. This happens a week later, on October 28th in a programme called ‘Britain’s Classroom Heroes’ which is designed to showcase excellence in education
