Cromwell Academy’s recent Ofsted inspection confirmed that the school is working at expected standard across key areas, including attendance and behaviour, Early Years, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing.
Inspectors recognised that “attendance is in line with national averages and improving” and that “pupils focus well on their learning and disruption is rare.” They also highlighted the respectful culture across the school, with “high levels of mutual respect between staff and pupils.”
The inspection took place shortly after Cromwell joined the CAM Academy Trust in January, during the early stages of trust integration.
Since September, the school has been led by Executive Headteacher Louise Worrell, whose early impact was recognised in the report. Inspectors noted that “leaders have wasted no time in taking action” and that “staff are fully on board with leaders’ vision.”
The report also praised the school’s inclusive ethos, well-designed Early Years curriculum, and strong personal development programme. Pupils were described as feeling safe, valued, and supported, with inspectors commenting that pupils are “articulate, thoughtful and well-rounded individuals.”
The findings provide a clear and constructive foundation for the next stage of improvement, which the Trust and school are already working on together.
